Born and raised in East Vancouver, Marcus talks through the seven-year traditional apprenticeship under Horiryu I, the Horiryu lineage, how he approaches design and composition, and where he thinks tattooing is heading next.

  • You actually have to dedicate yourself to one craft and perfect it. If you do anything less, it's not good enough.
  • It's almost the equivalent trust of your barber, but with the consequences being permanent.
  • If you genuinely love tattooing, you will stick to it and you will be fine. But make sure to adapt. Use the technology around you, be ready for the AI wave.
